Jerry “Goldsteins” Hannah is a proud graduate of Morris College and a longtime supporter of education, civic engagement, and community service. During his time at Morris College, he was recognized in the 1979 Who’s Who Among Students, served as Mr. Co-Ed, and was elected Student Government Association President. He earned a Bachelor of Science in History in 1981 and has remained actively involved with the college and its alumni community for decades.
Hannah has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting students and strengthening his alma mater. In 1987, he established a scholarship totaling $1,000 and has continued that support through additional contributions, including prepaid scholarship funding for ten years beginning in 2021. That same year, he donated $1,000 to the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In recognition of his dedication, he received the Morris College National Alumni Association Service Award in 2007 and the MCNAA Vendor Award in 2009. He was inducted into the Morris College Hall of Fame in 2011 and later received both a Certificate of Appreciation from MCNAA and the Morris College President’s Citation in 2014.
Hannah has also held several leadership roles within the Morris College National Alumni Association, including serving as Treasurer in 2012 and as President of the Lake City MCNAA Chapter since 2012. His connection to Morris College was further honored when he served as the Grand Marshal for the Morris College Thanksgiving Homecoming Parade in 1997.
In addition to his alumni service, Hannah has been actively involved in civic and community organizations. He served as Vice President of the Florence County Young Democrats from 1971 to 1973 and later as a board member of the Lake City Area Voters League from 1973 to 1976. He is a life member of the NAACP through the Lake City Chapter, a life member of South Carolina State University, and a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
