City of Orangeburg to Open Warming Shelter Due to Expected Inclement Weather
Shelter to operate January 24-26 at City Gym on Broughton Street

Orangeburg, SC – Due to impending inclement weather conditions, the City of Orangeburg will open a warming shelter to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in need. The warming shelter will be located at the City Gym, 410 Broughton Street, and will operate from Saturday, January 24 at 3:00 PM until Monday, January 26 until 12:00 Noon.

The shelter is intended to provide a safe, warm space for individuals during hazardous cold weather conditions. 

Important information:

  • Service animals are allowed inside the shelter.
  • Other pets are not permitted and must be taken to the Orangeburg County Animal Control, 1596 Ellis Ave, for care during this period

City officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary. The City of Orangeburg encourages residents to share this information with anyone who may need shelter and to check on neighbors who may be vulnerable during cold weather.
