Maintenance Worker I
The City of Orangeburg is looking for a motivated individual to fill the position of Maintenance Worker in its Parks & Recreation Department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Motor Equipment Operator I (MEO I) performs a variety of semi-skilled & unskilled tasks in the collection of solid wastes & operation of a variety of motorized equipment & trucks. Some of the duties include:
• Mows and maintains park and open space areas such as baseball and soccer fields, cemeteries, road and drainage rights-of-way.
• Inspects, washes and performs routine maintenance of public drinking fountains and restrooms.
• Sweeps, washes, paints and repairs public facilities
• Performs routine maintenance on lawn and power equipment.
• Plants, lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A) Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
B) Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time under varying weather conditions; ability to work safely; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; ability to operate sanitation equipment under varying conditions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A) High school diploma or equivalent
B) Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in buildings and grounds maintenance
Any equivalent combination of education

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A valid SC driver’s license is required.

Public Safety Officer
The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety is seeking qualified individuals that are interested in a rewarding career as a Public Safety Officer. The Department of Public Safety is a fully implemented public safety agency, offering a wide variety of traditional and unique assignments that include, Patrol/Fire Suppression, Traffic Enforcement, Investigations, Community Policing and more. Individuals seeking to become part of our team will be fully trained to provide both fire suppression and law enforcement duties for the City of Orangeburg. Must be 21 years of age. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Must be in good physical condition. Have no criminal history. Must posses a valid South Carolina drivers license. Must have a good driving record (No DUS or DUI). Have good moral character. Must have a good credit rating. Starting salary $27,500 minimum Certified Officer Salary Negotiable.
